Course Description

This course assists leaders to move past the basic ethics material to incorporate intermediate tools and techniques that address ethical leadership and supporting an ethical team. Using theory and interactions such as polls, discussions and mini case studies, CPAs will walk through examples of ethical behaviours, expectations of leadership, the value of ethical leadership on culture, team group dynamics and leading the team to adopt ethical behaviours.

Applicable for

This course is targeted to anyone in a leadership position by role or influence such as project manager, scrum master or change lead.

Learning Objectives

  • understand the key concepts of ethical behaviour
  • understand the expectations of being a leader and the value of ethical leadership on culture
  • lead through tough decisions using emotional intelligence and exercising good judgment
  • feel confident in their leadership decisions and actions as they support strong ethical team dynamics

Content

Leaders may not always understand how their behaviour, ethical or lack thereof, impacts an organizational team.  Leaders will reinforce how their leadership decisions and actions impact the organizational climate, and thus the accepted behaviours that follow. This includes modeling the desired behaviour, emotional intelligence, and exercising good judgment. The material will be presented in four modules including:

  • personal ethical behaviour (morals, values and implicit bias)
  • expectations of leadership and the value of ethical leadership on culture (leadership styles, team dynamics, and trust)
  • modeling the desired behaviour (using emotional intelligence and exercising good judgment)
  • supporting ethical team dynamics (critical thinking, healthy conflict, and balancing fairness with equity)
