Overview

Ethical leadership plays a critical role in building trust, strengthening team performance, and fostering a positive organizational culture. This course helps current and emerging leaders understand how their decisions, behaviours, and actions influence team dynamics and workplace conduct. Participants will explore practical approaches to leading through complex situations, modeling ethical behaviour, and creating an environment where sound judgment, accountability, and ethical decision-making support both individual and organizational success.

This live virtual seminar is offered in collaboration with CPA Western Provinces. The content is applicable to all participants.

Course Description

Effective leaders set the tone for ethical behaviour within their teams and organizations. This interactive course explores the principles, tools, and techniques that support ethical leadership, helping participants navigate challenging decisions while fostering trust, accountability, and positive team dynamics. Through discussion, practical examples, and case-based learning, participants will examine the impact of leadership behaviours on organizational culture and learn strategies for promoting ethical conduct across their teams.

Applicable for

This course is targeted to anyone in a leadership position by role or influence such as project manager, scrum master or change lead.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the key concepts of ethical behaviour.
  • Understand the expectations of leadership and the value of ethical leadership on organizational culture.
  • Lead through challenging decisions using emotional intelligence and sound professional judgment.
  • Build confidence in leadership decisions and actions that support strong ethical team dynamics.

Content

Leaders may not always understand how their behaviour, ethical or lack thereof, impacts an organizational team.  Leaders will reinforce how their leadership decisions and actions impact the organizational climate, and thus the accepted behaviours that follow. This includes modeling the desired behaviour, emotional intelligence, and exercising good judgment. The material will be presented in four modules including:

  • Personal ethical behaviour (morals, values and implicit bias)
  • Expectations of leadership and the value of ethical leadership on culture (leadership styles, team dynamics, and trust)
  • Modeling the desired behaviour (using emotional intelligence and exercising good judgment)
  • Supporting ethical team dynamics (critical thinking, healthy conflict, and balancing fairness with equity)
