Overview

Participants will develop a practical, end-to-end understanding of the treasury function—covering organization design, bank relationship management, working capital, cash and liquidity, FP&A linkages, controls, and risk management—so treasury better supports strategy and day-to-day operations. Participants will apply concepts through case-based analysis and calculations (e.g., WACC, hedging structures, cash-forecast models) to strengthen decision-making and communication with lenders and internal stakeholders.

  • Treasury professionals, controllers, finance managers, and FP&A leaders seeking a structured treasury toolkit. 
  • Practitioners who interact with credit agreements, cash-flow planning, or risk programs and want stronger negotiation and control practices.  

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants should be able to: 

  • Describe the mandate and operating model of a modern treasury function and align it with organizational objectives. 
  • Manage bank relationships and credit agreements, including negotiation approaches, covenant monitoring, and compliance practices. 
  • Build and interpret cash-flow forecasts and short-term liquidity plans, and link treasury’s FP&A analyses to capital-investment decisions. 
  • Optimize working capital policies and cash-management structures, and evaluate short-term investing and borrowing alternatives. 
  • Identify treasury risks (FX, interest rate, liquidity, operational/cyber) and outline hedging, policy, and control frameworks to mitigate them.

  • The corporate treasury function: role, organization, regulatory landscape, and banking sector context. 
  • Bank relationship management: negotiating credit facilities, syndications, covenant mechanics, and compliance practices. 
  • FP&A and modeling: WACC and investment appraisal, discounted-cash-flow linkages, and predictive modeling for liquidity and strength. 
  • Working capital management: liquidity measurement, investment/financing strategies, global considerations, and analytics. 
  • Cash management and capital markets: cash-pooling concepts, short-term investments/borrowings, policies, systems (including SWIFT) and cash-forecasting. 
  • Treasury operations and control: governance, COSO/ERM concepts, policies and procedures, key controls, technology and cyber risk, transformation. 
  • Derivatives and risk management: FX and interest-rate risk refreshers, hedge design, and operational controls for risk programs.
