COVID-19 Update for PD Seminars (Spring-Summer 2021)

Apr 15, 2021

Through to August 31, 2021, we will continue to provide a special 20% discount to in-person seminars, live webinars, and select on-demand virtual products. Some products may be excluded from this offer.

As BC’s COVID protocols still emphasize the need to physically distance and the restrictions on gatherings, CPABC PD will continue to hold the majority of our seminars virtually through our upcoming spring and summer program. We have tentatively scheduled only a small handful of seminars to be held in-person later in the summer, but the status of these offerings will be evaluated closer to their start dates.

Through to August 31, 2021, we will continue to provide a special 20% discount to in-person seminars, live webinars, and select on-demand virtual products. Some products may be excluded from this offer.

Live Webinars (Online Virtual)

The majority of CPABC PD seminars will continue to be offered virtually through to at least the end of August 2021. These live webinars will be presented through Zoom. We have had a successful 12 months of transitioning to online virtual learning, and hope to continue improving our offerings:

  • Less strenuous scheduling – more courses offered as shorter segments over multiple days
  • New learning management system – more seamless and user-friendly learning experience
  • Promote interaction in the virtual classroom – more engagement and improved learning
  • Help new users navigate the live webinar landscape. Check out our How to Use Zoom Features quick video.

Check out our line-up of Live Webinars scheduled from May to July, which will also include three virtual Nexus Days. And through to August 31, 2021, a special 20% discount will apply to most live webinars.

Online On-Demand Learning

If live events do not work for your schedule, we also offer a wide range of online on-demand learning opportunities. From our own archive of recorded webinars to partnerships with other online providers such as K2E, ProDio, Corporate Finance Institute (CFI), LumiQ, Executive Finance, CPA Crossings, and Business Learning Institute (BLI), we have expanded our inventory of on-demand, web-based learning with quality courses and topics tailored to accounting and finance professionals.

In-Person Seminars

Ensuring that public health guidelines are met is a top priority. We will be engaging with only up to two venues in downtown Vancouver, and will work with them to ensure larger meeting room sizes with limited seating capacities, safe practices with regards to room setup and food service, clear markings and signage in walkways, and easy access to hand sanitizing stations. CPABC PD staff will be on-site to ensure registrants are properly checked in with as little contact as possible. Course materials will be available electronically (PDF) only.

Please note that the following guidelines apply to attendees of in-person CPABC PD seminars. All attendees agree to:

  • Sanitize their hands upon entering the venue, and before and after eating.
  • Wear non-medical face masks (or face shields) at all times in the venue and throughout the duration of the seminar (except during break and/or meal times). Individuals are expected to bring their own face mask/shield.
  • Bring confirmation of an exemption from wearing a mask IF they have an underlying medical condition and/or disability that prevents them from wearing an appropriate face covering. Confirmation may take the form of a doctor’s note or a TransLink-branded card indicating my exemption. This must be presented at the registration desk. If applicable, they agree to comply with the self-identification practices that may be in place at the venue for those unable to wear an appropriate face covering.
  • Maintain physical distance of at least two metres/six feet at all times throughout the seminar, including during break and/or meal times. (Note: where lunch is provided, it will be individually pre-bagged - no buffets).
  • Abide by the contact tracing protocols which will follow standards set by the BC Centre for Disease Control.
  • Commit to completing the health self-assessment on the Government of BC website on the day of the seminar, prior to arrival.
  • Cancel their registration and not attend the event if they do not pass the government assessment noted above. The cancellation will follow CPABC’s refund policies in effect for that event, which will accommodate COVID-19 related cancellations.

Note: Students and members who agree to comply with the guidelines at registration and then refuse at the event may face disciplinary measures.

Should health authorities once again restrict in-person events and gatherings, conversion from in-person to virtual offerings will be made wherever possible.
