Overview

Navigating a tax dispute requires a clear understanding of CRA processes, procedural requirements, and effective resolution strategies. This half-day seminar provides practical guidance on managing tax disputes from audit through appeal, helping participants respond confidently to CRA inquiries, protect their clients’ interests, and support efficient, cost-effective outcomes. You will gain insight into current audit issues, dispute resolution strategies, and the accountant’s role throughout the tax appeals process.

Course Description

This seminar provides professional accountants with a practical overview of the CRA dispute resolution process and the strategies that can help achieve timely and effective resolutions. Through a review of current audit issues, objection procedures, and appeal processes, participants will develop a stronger understanding of how to manage tax disputes at each stage of the process.

The session also explores key considerations surrounding records retention, audit preparation, responding to CRA proposals, and challenging reassessments. In addition, participants will examine the accountant’s role in judicial proceedings, including serving as an expert witness and supporting clients through appeals before the Tax Court of Canada and the Federal Court.

Those who deal with the CRA, whether on an infrequent or regular basis.
