Overview
The role of the Chief Financial Officer continues to evolve. Beyond technical expertise, today’s CFOs need to make strategic financial decisions in a changing dynamic environment. This necessitates inspired, authentic leaders capable of solving challenging problems as a valued member of the C-suite. From supporting and driving strategic decision making through to strong financial stewardship, there is a need for the CFO to demonstrate expertise in a broad range of areas, including regulation, globalisation, technology, risk, transformation, stakeholder management, reporting, and talent management. In short, they need to be truly effective leaders.
The CFO’s Leadership Program is an intensive and interactive program that blends best practices, case studies, group discussions and role-play to allow participants to advance their leadership skills to move from the technical aspects of being a finance professional, to being a strategic partner and catalyst for organizational change. This program concentrates on areas where CFOs have told us they feel they need the most help

This course is offered in four-day online and face-to-face, retreat formats. You will gain critical insights into leading practices in management and leadership, and have the opportunity to apply tools and skills to your work context, share experiences with your peers and take away actionable goals.

The CPABC CFO Program Certificate
The CPABC CFO Program Certificate is a two-component program designed to provide you with the foundation for success. The CFO’s Leadership Program will focus on management and leadership skills, while The CFO’s Operational Skills Program will focus on core technical and operational skills. You can choose to complete only one of these programs, but if you complete both components you will receive the CPABC CFO Program Certificate of Completion. Additional future offerings to be scheduled.
Accommodation
For 2026: It will be up to the registrant to decide if they wish to stay on-site at the venue. CPABC is holding a very limited accommodation block at the hotel. Contact us for more information.
CPABC has negotiated corporate rates at some hotels in Vancouver, Victoria, and Whistler as part of Member Services' Benefits and Savings. Note that the cost of the accommodation is separate from the program fee, and those who require accommodation will need to make their own arrangements. If you require accommodation, we recommend booking as soon as possible, as the corporate rate can sell out. We also strongly suggest that you do not book any non-refundable rates prior to confirming that the program will be going ahead as scheduled.

The responses you provide to the Core Strengths – SDI 2.0™ assessments, and your assessment results, will be stored and accessed in the United States by Learner Source, who hosts and processes the assessments and derives results. In order to administer these assessments, your email address will be disclosed to Learner Source so that they may contact you with a link to the assessments.
The responses you provide to 360 Degree Leadership Assessment, Organizational Culture Assessment and One-on-One Coaching Preparation Form will be stored and accessed in the United States by Jotform, who hosts the assessments.
CPABC will collect your assessment results in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, British Columbia, to facilitate and assist in the coaching and feedback opportunities during the in-person sessions.
Terms of Registration & Cancellation Policies
All registrations must be accompanied by payment. Due to limited seating and some pre-work, all registrations should be received no later than 3 weeks prior to the start date. Changes or cancellations to this registration must be made in writing (email is acceptable) to the PD Department at CPABC, and will be subject to the cancellation policy as indicated below.
Note that the following are cancellation policies that apply to Executive Programs. We will issue refunds for cancellations based on the following:
- More than thirty (30) days prior to the program start date – a refund will be granted upon receipt of written notification.
- Fifteen to thirty (15-30) days prior to the program start date – a refund less cancellation fee of $300
- Less than fifteen (15) days prior to the program start date – no refund and/or credit will be granted. Full program fees will apply.
