Course Description
While project leaders and project managers share responsibility for project success, their roles often focus on different aspects of project delivery. This course examines the relationship between leadership and management in a project environment, helping participants understand how to motivate teams, manage day-to-day activities, navigate change, and support organizational objectives. Through practical examples, participants will explore proven approaches for improving team effectiveness, stakeholder engagement, communication, and project outcomes.

After completing this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify project leadership and management good practices in their work setting.
- Examine their project leadership and management style and its impact on cultural, generational, and interpersonal team effectiveness.
- Understand the relationship between management, leadership, and project success.
- Align project goals with organizational vision and strategy.
- Engage in project-based behaviours that contribute to organizational success.
- Create an environment that motivates project team members.
- Overcome potential barriers to communication.
- Undertake stakeholder analysis and identify effective project decision-making tools and techniques.
- Identify and take into consideration each individual's interests and values when making decisions that affect them.
- Apply and assess learning with feedback from a computer-based simulation.

Improving Your Virtual Learning Experience
Live webinars have varying levels of expected interaction, with some requiring microphone and camera capabilities to support a proper learning experience – please email pdreg@bccpa.ca if you have concerns.
In general, we encourage participants to have their cameras turned on to enhance their virtual learning experience. This practice promotes a stronger connection with the instructor and fellow participants, and fosters improved communication and collaboration.

DR. SHAWN IRELAND is a founding partner and managing director of HRCgroup, Inc. He works extensively with Fortune 500 companies, foreign governments and international aid agencies. His expertise includes fostering critical thinking, strategic change, virtual teamwork, and managing human behaviour. He’s an adjunct Faculty member in the Doctor of Psychology Clinical Psychology graduate program at Adler University in Vancouver.
