Introduction to ESG Reporting (Live Webinar)

DELIVERY FORMAT
Online Virtual
SEMINAR TYPE
PD Seminar

Overview

This introduction to ESG reporting will highlight its importance and how it is increasingly becoming integrated with financial reporting. Where financial reporting is highly evolved and has long benefitted from international coordination through IFRS, the various existing ESG reporting standards and frameworks are only now being consolidated by the International Sustainability Standards Board, also now under the IFRS umbrella. This introduction will aim to demystify ESG reporting and provide an update on recent regulatory developments related to ESG reporting.

Course Description

CPAs are expected to be fluent in the language of financial reporting, and increasingly in the topics of sustainability and non-financial reporting. Learning this new language of sustainability reporting is therefore imperative for any CPA. CPAs who become competent and conversant in this new reporting language now will be ahead of the curve and up to date with the latest reporting regulations. The session will provide an overview of ESG reporting regulations, standards, and frameworks.

Applicable for

CPAs at any level and anyone interested in learning more about sustainability reporting – the topic is very inter-disciplinary and often those tasked with sustainability reporting are not only CPAs, but also those with an operational, science or engineering, communications or investor relations, or legal backgrounds

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • explain the growing importance and evolution of non-financial reporting and differentiate between ESG and sustainability
  • differentiate between the different ESG reporting regulations, standards and frameworks, and describe the geographical differences in ESG regulations.
  • differentiate between financial and impact materiality and explain what is meant by double materiality
  • describe how to determine the financially material Environmental, Social and Governance risk for a company and how to evaluate the quality of disclosures by a company and its performance
