Overview

This course explores the implications of AI for the accounting profession, highlighting the risks, challenges, and opportunities through an ethical lens.


This live virtual seminar is offered in collaboration with CPA Western Provinces. The content is applicable to all participants. BC registrants can access the course materials and virtual meeting link through CPABC's Learning Management System (LMS) as usual. Please note that this virtual seminar will be hosted by CPA Alberta. Course Description

Artificial intelligence is reshaping business processes, organizational structures, and professional relationships. In this period of rapid transformation, it’s essential for professional accountants to understand how AI impacts their work and their ethical responsibilities, especially as ethics remains central to the profession’s purpose. 

Applicable for

Early career and mid-career professionals in industry, practice, public sector or NFP sectors, seeking to understand the implications of AI for their work and their organizations.

  • Explain how ethics connects to the core purpose of the accounting profession. 
  • Assess how AI is reshaping the profession  
  • Recognize the expected ROI from AI investments and how they influence competitive advantage 
  • Evaluate the challenges and opportunities that AI presents for professional accountants 
  • Apply practical strategies to maintain and strengthen your relevance in an AI driven environment.

Arun Mathur Arun Mathur, FCPA, FCA, is the owner and lead instructor at UltimQuest Knowledge. He has over 40 years experience as a professional accountant, trainer, board member and community leader. He has presented to thousands of accounting and business professionals around the world on business ethics, improving governance, ESG and related topics. He explains how operating ethically results in a return on investment to individuals and to businesses. In 2018, he was awarded the FCPA designation from CPA Ontario. Improving Your Virtual Learning Experience

Live webinars have varying levels of expected interaction, with some requiring microphone and camera capabilities to support a proper learning experience – please email pdreg@bccpa.ca if you have concerns. 

In general, we encourage participants to have their cameras turned on to enhance their virtual learning experience. This practice promotes a stronger connection with the instructor and fellow participants, and fosters improved communication and collaboration.
