Overview

This course is uniquely designed for current as well as future leaders across different professions. It goes well beyond the theoretical basis and dives deeper into stakeholders and their role in this unprecedented yet interesting FTX saga.

It focuses on practical issues encountered in dealing with today’s corporate landscape which is increasingly dominated by seemingly charismatic yet uniquely odd leaders that can have profound impact on all aspects of the organization.

  This is an online virtual offering. Live webinars have varying levels of expected interaction, with some requiring microphone and camera capabilities to support a proper learning experience – please email pdreg@bccpa.ca if you have concerns. 

Course Description

After starting with a comprehensive overview of the FTX collapse and an understanding of the key stakeholders, the course eventually involves role play to have the participants engage in critical thinking by not just looking at the “other side” but also to then reflect on how they could have done things differently.

You will gain an enhanced understanding of how ethical considerations come into play at different levels of an organization and its stakeholders.  Participants are encouraged to read about FTX collapse in advance to enhance their learning and experience during the seminar. However, it is not a pre-requisite.

Applicable for

CPAs and other professionals at all levels, including current and aspiring leaders across public accounting firms and industry. The course will also appeal to those who have an interest or stake in the sophisticated tech startup landscape.

Learning Objectives

  • broadly understand the various ethical standards and their purpose,
  • enhance critical thinking to look at issues from various perspectives to better understand problems and take effective actions

BABAR KHAN, CPA, MBA, BBA, MSc is an experienced tax professional with over 15 years of experience in tax compliance and advisory work. He specializes in taxation for Expatriates, Business Travelers, High Net Worth Individuals and Owner-Managed businesses. Babar also teaches at Canada’s Schulich School of Business, along with Canadian CPA bodies. Babar holds an MSc (Tax) degree from University of Oxford (UK) and an MBA from Schulich School of Business (Canada). He is also a dual US and Canadian CPA. Babar also serves on the board of a UK-based EdTech Company.
