Overview

Data analytics and automation are becoming increasingly important skills for accounting professionals. This hands-on workshop introduces participants to Python and demonstrates how it can be used to automate accounting processes, streamline data analysis, and produce professional outputs such as reports, visualizations, PDFs, webpages, and Excel workbooks. Participants will gain practical insights into applying modern analytics tools to improve efficiency and enhance accounting workflows.


This live virtual seminar is offered in collaboration with CPA Western Provinces. The content is applicable to all participants.

As organizations continue to generate larger volumes of data, accounting professionals can benefit from tools that automate routine tasks and improve analytical capabilities. This practical workshop uses a comprehensive accounting project to demonstrate how Python can be applied to data processing, analysis, visualization, and reporting. Jianyuan(Andy) Hu has over 10 years of combined experience in accounting, financial planning, and analytics engineering. Andy is enthusiastic in helping organizations maximize their data and decision-making potential. Andy has proven successful in central accounting/finance, IT financial planning, academic faculty, ERP system migration, and institutional planning. Andy has led various initiatives: building enterprise datastore, implementing enterprise-grade analytics/data visualization, automating business processes and many others. These value-adding projects better assist and inform management at different levels while alleviating reporting burdens. As a CPA since 2020, Andy's educational background encompasses Master of Accountancy and Master of Management Analytics. Andy is also certified as Microsoft Trainer and as Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate.
