Overview

Generative artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how accounting professionals analyze information, automate tasks, and deliver value to clients and organizations. This course introduces the practical applications of tools such as ChatGPT and other AI solutions, helping participants understand how these technologies can enhance productivity, communication, research, and decision-making. Participants will gain insights into the opportunities, risks, and emerging capabilities of AI while developing skills that can be applied in today’s evolving professional environment.

Course Description

This practical course explores ChatGPT and other generative AI tools and their growing role in accounting and finance. Participants will learn how AI can support data analysis, content creation, research, communication, and workflow efficiency. The session also examines key considerations related to prompt design, risk management, and responsible AI use, helping professionals apply these technologies effectively and confidently in their work.

Applicable for

Individuals working in the field of accounting, finance, or related fields.

This course is ideal for both experienced professionals who want to improve their skills and efficiency, as well as individuals who are new to the field and seeking to gain a competitive edge. The course is designed for individuals who have a basic understanding of accounting principles, but no prior experience with AI or language models is required.

Content

  • identify at least 30 use cases for ChatGPT for accountants in their daily workflow
  • explain at least 10 examples of prompt engineering – a critical new skillset that involves how to provide input to artificial intelligence to achieve optimal results
  • list at least two ways you can use ChatGPT to extract information from any dataset and generate content based on that dataset
  • list at least six potential pitfalls and risks of using ChatGPT
  • illustrate at least five ways ChatGPT is different and arguably better than Google
  • point out at least two new AI online directories that catalog hundreds of new artificial intelligence productivity tools
