Overview

Effective data visualization helps accounting and finance professionals communicate insights clearly, support better decision-making, and enhance the impact of their reports and presentations. Strong visualizations do more than display data—they help audiences identify trends, understand key messages, and make informed decisions. This practical session goes beyond the fundamentals of chart creation to explore advanced Excel visualization techniques that improve clarity, engagement, and communication effectiveness.

Participants will learn how to create dynamic, interactive, and visually effective charts that enhance the presentation of financial and business information. The session focuses on practical approaches that help professionals communicate complex data more clearly while improving the overall impact of reports, analyses, and presentations.

CPAs and other accounting, financial, and business professionals who want to learn how to create more effective charts and visualizations in Excel.

Shehzad is a Staff Data Scientist with over a decade of hands-on experience in enterprise analytics — including roles at Intuit and Brady Corporation — plus a stint as the founder of Bandit Brewery, which taught him more about data-driven decision-making under pressure than any textbook could. He specializes in Excel and SQL and advanced data analytics with a teaching style that’s heavy on real-world scenarios. He’s also taught Introduction to Databases to an undergraduate program during his master’s degree.

TOMMY STEPHENS, CITP, maintains professional memberships with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and is a chartered global management accountant. In 2003, Mr. Stephens affiliated with K2 Enterprises and in 2007 he joined the firm as a partner. Tommy received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree (Major in Accounting) from Auburn University in 1985. In 1992, he earned a Master of Science degree (Major in Finance) from Georgia State University in Atlanta. During his professional career, Tommy has gained valuable experience in a variety of positions, including: working as an auditor and technology consultant for an Atlanta-based public accounting firm; leading an Internal Audit staff and managing a Cost Accounting team for a Fortune 500 company; serving as a Chief Financial Officer for an international engineering organization; and founding and managing his public accounting firm that provides accounting, tax, and consulting services to individuals and a variety of small and emerging businesses. Over the past thirty-eight years, Tommy has presented over 3,100 educational sessions to over 78,000 participants throughout the United States and Canada.

MAC MCCLELLAND, an attorney and accounting professional, is an associate of K2 Enterprises of Hammond, Louisiana, and Network Management Group of Hutchinson, Kansas.
