Overview

The FP&A Fundamentals Certificate Program is a practical, instructor led program for finance professionals looking to move beyond historical reporting and play a more strategic role in their organizations.

FP&A sits at the intersection of finance, strategy, and decision making. In this program, you’ll learn how FP&A teams translate financial data into insight- supporting business leaders through planning, forecasting, modelling, and performance analysis. The focus is on how FP&A works in practice: influencing decisions, partnering with the business, and delivering forward looking insights that drive performance.

ADVISORY

To earn the FP&A Fundamentals Certificate, you must attend all the live sessions. Sessions will be recorded - you will have access to review the recordings for a limited time.

 


This live virtual seminar is offered in collaboration with CPA Western Provinces. The content is applicable to all participants. BC registrants can access the course materials and virtual meeting link through CPABC's Learning Management System (LMS) as usual. Please note that this virtual seminar will be hosted by CPA Alberta. Course Description

Through four interactive workshops, you’ll build core FP&A skills you can apply immediately. Whether you’re transitioning into FP&A, strengthening your business partnering capabilities, or increasing your strategic impact, this certificate provides practical tools, frameworks, and real world examples you can use right away. 

Applicable for

  • Finance professionals who want to develop their FP&A skills. 
  • Accountants who recently took on forecasting and planning responsibilities. 
  • Anyone who needs to tell the financial story of a business.

Learning Objectives

  • Communicate financial insights clearly and persuasively to non finance leaders. 
  • Build and apply financial models that support business cases and strategic decisions. 
  • Improve planning and forecasting processes using proven FP&A techniques. 
  • Act as a trusted business partner without relying on “policing” or control based approaches. 
  • Better understand the FP&A career path and how it differs from traditional accounting roles.

Live webinars have varying levels of expected interaction, with some requiring microphone and camera capabilities to support a proper learning experience – please email pdreg@bccpa.ca if you have concerns. 

In general, we encourage participants to have their cameras turned on to enhance their virtual learning experience. This practice promotes a stronger connection with the instructor and fellow participants, and fosters improved communication and collaboration.
