Participants will refresh core management accounting concepts and apply them to practical decision-making, planning, and performance conversations across the business. Participants will work through cost classification, CVP analysis, relevant-costing scenarios, scorecards, and budgeting techniques to turn analysis into clear recommendations for non-financial stakeholders.

- Overview of management accounting: role, concepts, and communication with non-financial managers.
- Types of decisions and costing: cost identification, classification (behaviour/traceability/relevance), cost flows, overhead application, and mixed-cost analysis.
- Cost–Volume–Profit analysis: break-even and target profit, contribution margin, margin of safety, operating leverage, multi-product considerations, and assumptions/limitations.
- Decision making and relevant costing: structured decision process, opportunity/avoidable/sunk/differential costs; make-or-buy, scarce resources, special orders, sell-or-process-further, drop-or-keep, and transfer-pricing touchpoints.
- Balanced Scorecard: perspectives, KPIs, linkage to strategy and budgets, and reporting practices.
- Budgeting: master/flexible/rolling budgets, standard costing and variance analysis, zero-based vs. incremental approaches, accountability, and communication.
- Other topics in management accounting: selected contemporary themes and case-based exercises.
