This course provides a review of Section 3856, with emphasis on the initial and subsequent measurement of both arm’s length and related party financial instruments, accounting for financing fees and transaction costs, impairment, retractable or mandatorily redeemable shares and presentation and disclosure.

- Core ASPE financial instrument concepts, such as identification of common financial instruments, recognition and measurement of no or low interest loans in arm’s length transactions, related party financial instruments, transaction costs and financing fees and retractable or mandatorily redeemable shares.
- Overview of key disclosure areas for financial instruments.
- Overview of foundational topics, including impairment, forgiveness and recognition.
- Illustrative examples, exercises, and sample disclosures that reinforce participants’ understanding of the practical application of ASPE – Financial Instruments.
