Overview

This course will introduce finance professionals to the basics of Copilot, a generative AI-powered assistant, to enhance their productivity and decision-making in various Microsoft applications.


This live virtual seminar is offered in collaboration with CPA Western Provinces. The content is applicable to all participants.

Course Description

Participants will learn about Copilot features and capabilities, and practice applying use cases with a focus on finance such as data analysis, research, document drafting, presentation creation, and email communication. The course will also cover best practices, tips, and limitations of using Copilot, including prompt engineering as well as some ethical and security considerations. 

Content

  • Mastering Prompt Engineering Techniques for crafting initial and follow-up prompts to maximize output quality 
  • Strategies for eliciting the most relevant and accurate responses from Copilot 
  • Navigating the Pitfalls: Understanding the limitations of Copilot and how to prevent misinformation by recognizing and mitigating hallucinations 
  • Practical Applications in Finance Technical Task Assistance: Utilizing Copilot for Excel for automating tasks such as data analysis, creating complex formulas for extracting data, generating insights, creating pivot tables and charts, performing what-if analysis 
  • Research Enhancement: Leveraging Copilot for Edge, Word and Microsoft 365 Chat for in-depth financial research and analysis 
  • Streamlining Daily Operations: Implementing Copilot for Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams for drafting proposals and presentations, client communications, rewording and summarizing documents and meetings, and brainstorming innovative solutions 
  • Finance Case Study: The course includes a completed case study of using Copilot to automate and expediate the deal process of analyzing a portfolio company in the e-commerce sector and researching key trends in the industry

Eugene Suarez
Eugene Suarez, BA, MBA, began his banking career as an analyst at Credit Agricole’s Corporate & Investment Bank in NYC where he focused on providing balance sheet support across all parts of the capital structure for a wide range of corporate clients. He then moved to Dominick & Dickerman LLC where he worked as an M&A generalist providing transaction advisory for acquisitions as well as subordinated debt financings. Eugene then joined MediaMath as an Analyst for the Office of the CEO where he led various strategic and mission critical initiatives. Subsequently, he joined the tech start-up, Playbuzz, as the Chief of Staff working closely with the management team on strategy, operations, and corporate development. In 2020, Eugene founded Boost MBA which delivers a mobile first and fully interactive MBA curriculum designed for the technical business leader.
