Imposter Syndrome and Executive Presence

Facilitator: Lesley-Ann Marriott, PCC, CEC (Professional Coach)

As we climb the ladder of success, we find ourselves against the edge of our comfort zone. While the challenges frequently come from pressure put upon us, the real culprit is what we say to ourselves. Questions like: ‘I am so out of depth here; I feel like I don’t match up to the talent in the room.’ Or ‘I don’t want to speak up, for fear that I will betray my secret, that I don’t belong here.’

Imposter syndrome manifests itself when we doubt our value and feel like a fraud. In this session, you will learn how to:

  • Identify the messages we give ourselves that undermine our value and block access to our strengths and talents (the ones hired for in the first place)
  • Re-frame our ‘self-talk’ to acknowledge our discomfort and embrace the courage (that we already have)
  • Claim our outstanding achievements and accomplishments in a way that empowers our leadership style and builds our executive presence

Effective Feedback

Facilitator: Laura Villacrusis

Feedback (when delivered well) can help build a culture of ongoing improvement and shared ownership. People are genuinely invested in getting better at their job, and yet research (from Gallup) shows that it doesn’t happen nearly as often and as well it should to support employees in their work.

This interactive session focuses on practical tools and practices that can be employed to provide impactful feedback. During the session, theory is kept at a minimum, practical techniques are emphasized, while actual participant case studies are used in order to ensure relevance, and prepare you for critical conversations back on-the-job.

By the end of this session, you will be better able to:

  • Have tough conversations
  • Provide constructive feedback
  • Praise and recognize employees weekly
  • Ask for “feedforward” to build your own self-awareness

Beyond Burnout: Resilience, Grit, and a Fulfilling Life
Final Reflection & Connection Session

Facilitator: Tammy Robertson, MA

In this final session of the Women’s Leadership PD Series, we will look at the habits that make us more likely to burnout and how to develop deep resilience and greater confidence in our leadership. While the root causes of burnout lie in deeper workplaces issues like work overload, poor communication and unsupportive relationships, there is much you as a leader can do to support yourself and your team’s wellbeing.

We’ll explore the role of values, beliefs, and mindset and how the way we think determines our actions, responses, and habits. You will learn how to set boundaries, become present and find more joy and lightness in a day. You will discover where your inspiration comes from and how to fuel it. Ultimately, the biggest threat to your leadership is losing the excitement, energy, and enthusiasm to care about who you are and the difference you are making.

This is an opportunity to build your resilience practice personally and encourage others to do the same, while contributing to a more robust work culture. Daily practices matter. We will focus on what you can do, where you are, with what you have. It’s time!

By the end of this session, you will learn to:

  • Carve a new path from Burn Out to Resilience
  • Gain insight into burnout as a leadership and cultural issue and what a leader can do to address the systemic issues.
  • Identify personal patterns that are not sustainable and replace them with habits that build energy.
  • Reduce stress of overwhelm and build presence, focus and daily productivity.
  • Find moments of joy, laughter, and lightness even in times of adversity
  • Build out your leadership practice and hold yourself accountable to what matters most.
